Editing a lifeline

To add and remove a lifeline is done in the CELL MODE.

Adding

  1. Select the cell position which you want to add a lifeline.

    The position to add must be the empty cell. Can’t add a lifeline on the message line or already existing lifeline.

  2. Perform one of the following operations:

    • Press i.
    • Click insert-class-icon on the toolbar.
    • Click [EditInsert LifeLine] on the menu.

Removing

  1. Select the cell which placed the lifeline you want to remove.

    The lifeline is removed even if selected the part of it. However, if you select the execution specification (the rectangle on the lifeline), only the execution specification will be removed. If you want to remove the lifeline, you must select the dotted line or the top rectangle of the dotted line (the class / object name). You can also select the multiple cells.

  2. Perform one of the following operations:

    • Press x.
    • Click cut-icon on the toolbar.
    • Click [EditCut] on the menu.

Editing a name of class / object

A class name or object name will be filled in the rectangle which is located top of the lifeline. Select the rectangle which you want to edit in the CELL MODE, and perform the following operations to edit it.

i Switch to the INSERT MODE. For more details about the operation of the INSERT MODE, refer to key bindings.
r Switch to the NORMAL MODE. In the case which is inserting a text, switch to the INSERT MODE. (press i)
I Move the cursor to the beginning of line and switch to the INSERT MODE.
A Move the cursor to the end of line and switch to the INSERT MODE.

Adjustment of length

Adjusting the length of the lifeline which is already existed.

  1. Select the cell which placed the lifeline (the dotted line) you want to adjust the length.

    Can not adjust the length of the lifeline at the cell position which is the rectangle of the top (the name of class / object), the execution specification or the terminal of the message. Move the cursor to the position on the dotted line which doesn’t contain them, or the bottom of the lifeline.

  2. Press r or c.

    The mode switches to the RANGE MODE.

    If you do this operation at the other of the terminal of the lifeline, the cursor moves automatically to the bottom of the lifeline.

  3. Adjust the length of the lifeline with a method of moving a cursor.

    h, j, k, l or , , , are able to use.

  4. Press <Enter> to fix the length.

Adding and removing a stop sign

You can do adding and removing (toggle) the stop sign on the bottom of the lifeline by performing one of the following ways:

  • Press i on the bottom of the lifeline.
  • Stretch the range to left or right in the RANGE MODE of adjusting the length of the lifeline.
